About HKFA

From the beginning way back in 2002 in New York City through to this very moment right now, HKFA is on a journey. Heather Karlie Vieira is the single mom, Peter Pan style entrepreneur and hustler behind the scenes and at the shows. From shopping and sourcing to schlepping and loading, from storing and restoring to researching and rehoming, from driving all those miles and driving herself a little bit crazy – this is the story of HKFA.

It was February of 2002 and I had just moved into a six month sublet on Avenue B in Alphabet City in the East Village. With $600 to my name and no job, I thought I could make it in New York City. After searching the classifieds in the Village Voice I finally found my own apartment in the West Village. And so began HKFA.

Twenty Four Years and Still Counting

And I wouldn’t change a moment. There have been plenty of ups and downs, successes and failures – all making this very moment right now that much more special.

Learning to be in the moment while standing on the experiences of the past so I can look far into the future feels like time travel.

But what I’m learning on this crazy journey is really the simple stuff. It’s the foundation of HKFA. Do what you love everyday.

So if there’s anything I can share with you, it’s this. Start. Start today. Right now. Trust your eye and go with your gut. Because developing both take time, and there’s no better time to start than now.
